Hobbies

I loved horses from an early age: they're my favourite hobby. Many years ago I worked as a stable girl, mucking out other peoples' stables, cleaning the equipment, grooming, feeding and fetching horses from the fields. In return, I'd get to ride them. They're lovely creatures.

When I was old enough and once I'd proved I could look after and control a horse properly, I was allowed to have my own horse out on loan. It was quite sensible of my mum, who also loves horses, to make sure it wasn't just a phase I was going through, because looking after horses is hard work and a full time commitment!

From the hard work, though, comes the joy of getting to know your horse as a companion. The bond of trust is special between you. I love to go riding - it gives me a chance to get away from all the hustle and bustle of life, switch off, enjoy my time and breathe in some peaceful scenery. I now have five horses: Jelly, Sally, Tyke, Duke and Rosie. (Rosie is Harvey's!)

Another favourite hobby is making clothes. Don't ask me why, but I love to sit down with my sewing machine, cutting out fabric shapes and designing my own bits and pieces. Not just for me, but also Harvey ('cos he is bigger and needs extra sizes!), for Junior… I like to look at all the different fabrics and patterns then simply make things up as I go along.

Like most other girls, I also love beauty treatments and - of course - shopping! Every girl should make time for a little pampering, even if it is just once a month. Reward yourself, you're worth it! I love having facials, massages and of course my nails being done. A trip to the hairdressers is another favourite activity - there's nothing better than a nice pampering session to freshen you up and help you feel good about yourself.

The other hobby I'm sure you can all relate to is retail therapy! I love to just walk around shops looking at everything. Not necessarily buying anything - well, not always! I'm always looking for gifts with family and friends in mind.

My other passion is my cars. I know it sounds funny, but I love sitting in my car, in my own private space, driving along with my music turned on full blast, singing along to romantic ballards, R 'n' B and other classic sing-along tunes.
