KATIE PRICE - FRAGRANCES

6th August 2010

In June this year The Observer published a number of allegations about the Indian perfume bottle manufacturer, Pragati Glass, including one to the effect that the manufacturer pays its workers below the minimum wage. The article highlighted the fact that Pragati Glass produces bottles for two Katie Price fragrances, Besotted and Stunning.

When Katie Price learned of The Observer’s claims she suspended her contract with her UK perfume licensee (an established, reputable company), requiring it to investigate the claims and to provide her with a full written report on the low wages allegations.

That investigation has now been completed and the report (by the chartered accountants Grant Thornton) demonstrates that The Observer’s findings were seriously flawed in many respects. On the newspaper’s low wages claim, Grant Thornton’s examination of Pragati Glass’ records April 2008 – June 2010, shows that the wages paid to the Pragati employees in fact exceeded the Indian minimum wage.

When the low wages claims were published, some UK retail outlets withdrew stocks of Besotted and Stunning. Katie Price is pleased to announce that, as a result of the Grant Thornton report, her perfumes are now available for sale again at all main retailers.
