Your agency will invoice the client on your behalf and will then take a commission from the bookings. The standard rate's around 20%.

Once the agency has received payment from the client, you'll receive a 'remittance' - the paperwork that confirms details of the bookings you've carried out - accompanied by a cheque for the total amount.

Being a model is classed as self employment and you're responsible for your own tax and statutory payments. So it's really important to ask for - and keep - receipts for all items… clothing, travel, sun bed, makeup and anything else you've spent money on in the course of your work.
