Fan Sites

It has been brought to our attention that some fan sites have been closed down, and we want to clarify a couple of things.
We actually support fan sites and think they are important for fans and members to have the opportunity to discuss amongst themselves issues not just about Katie but anything they want. Katie actually visits these sites as she likes to read what people think, responses and feedback.
It must also be pointed out, that those who do set up fan sites, need to be aware of copyright laws. Images and video footage are sometimes used without the permission of the owners, and if you dont get permission then using these images/footage is not legal.
We are aware that some sites have been closed recently. We need to confirm that these sites had been closed down as they were using footage without the owners permission, an infringement of copyright.
*Katie does not own this footage, the production companies do, and it is they who have requested sites to be closed because of this usage. It's the same
for many photographs.*
We know it takes a lot of time and effort to set up and run these fan sites and it is appreciated, but please do be aware of the legal stuff when using other people's footage and images.
Katie wanted this message to be posted out there as she has read comments and feels it is unfair for her to be blamed by other companies' activities.
